Diagnostics

Understanding the Problem

Every remapping job I take on starts the same way - with a proper diagnostic assessment. Before I make any changes to your machine, I need to understand exactly what's going on under the bonnet. That means plugging in, reading fault codes, and digging into the data to find the root cause of the problem.

Too many engineers skip this step or rely on guesswork. A warning light comes on, they assume they know what it is, and they crack on with a fix that doesn't actually address the real issue. That's not how I work. I want to know what's causing the fault, whether there are any underlying issues that need attention, and whether a remap is genuinely the right solution for your situation. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't - and I'd rather tell you that upfront than take your money for something that won't help.

The Tools for the Job

I use a range of professional diagnostic equipment including Alientech, Dimsport and Jaltest systems, alongside other specialist tools depending on the machine and manufacturer. This allows me to work across a wide range of agricultural and plant equipment, accessing the data I need to give you a clear picture of what's happening.

Standalone Diagnostics or Part of a Bigger Job

I offer diagnostics as a standalone service if you just want to know what's wrong before deciding what to do next. There's no obligation to go ahead with any further work - you'll get an honest assessment and we can talk through your options from there.

If a remap is the right solution, I can carry that out as a follow-up service, either on the same visit or scheduled for a time that suits you. Either way, you'll know exactly what you're getting and why before we go any further.

What Happens After

Once I've completed the diagnostic assessment, I'll talk you through what I've found in plain English. No jargon, no baffling you with technical terms - just a straightforward explanation of the problem, what's causing it, and what I'd recommend as the next step. From there, the decision is yours.
